On the evening of Thursday 29 June 2023, over 150 members (old and new) of the British-Luxembourg Society (BLS) gathered at the British Ambassador's Residence in Luxembourg-Ville for the BLS Summer Reception.

The embassy had invited a refugee pâtissier from Bucha in Ukraine to make the desserts for the reception and ThomasThomas during her speech welcomed Nicolas Zharov and Inna Yaremenko from LUkraine. “You carry on your shoulders the burden of this war,” she said of the organisation’s work to support victims of the conflict in Luxembourg and Ukraine. Thomas paid “tribute to the enduring friendship between our two nations” during her toast.

The British-Luxembourg Society celebrated its 75th anniversary with a gala dinner on Saturday evening. The black-tie event at Cercle Munster followed a rigorous lecture by Guy Thewes. The Luxembourgish historian spoke of the role Great Britain played towards Luxembourg's independence. A cocktail reception, sponsored by Banque Havilland, commenced the evening, supported by the sounds of live harp music. Louise Benjamin, the society's President, highlighted the benefits of membership.
