avid Clark, President of the British Luxembourg Society, invites members to the Extraordinary General Meeting and Annual General Meeting of 4 March 2018.
Published on Apr 03 2018
Dear Members,
I refer to my letter of 18 January 2018.
Much work has been carried out by the Council of the Society including a review of the Articles of Association and the membership list as well as the entire range of administrative matters that go to running a successful Society that complies with the legal requirements of an ASBL in Luxembourg. Meanwhile the traditional activity of the Society has continued with the English classes carried out by Chris Atkinson, one of our Vice-Chairmen, and Denise Clarke. The British Ambassador, John Marshall and his staff have been very supportive, and we are grateful to the Ambassador for hosting the EGM and AGM on the 4 March 2018 at his Residence.
We have ambitions to expand the work of the Society to cover a range of cultural and social activities and to support initiatives by other associations and individuals in Luxembourg that promote the aims of the Society and we will keep you informed of these in due course. Britain, one of Europe’s largest countries, and Luxembourg, one of the smallest, have much to say to each other and to appreciate of their respective cultures and history.
Extraordinary General Meeting and Annual General Meeting of 4 March 2018
As the quorum requirement was not reached at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Members (“EGM”) of 5 February 2018, the Council has decided to convene a second EGM on 4 March 2018.
Immediately following the EGM, we will hold our Annual General Meeting (“AGM”).
Please find the respective Convening Notices enclosed.
The draft annual accounts for the year ending 31 December 2017 and the proposed budget for 2018 are posted below.
His Excellency John Marshall, the British Ambassador, has generously offered to host us at his residence at L-2450 Luxembourg, 16 boulevard F.-D. Roosevelt. For organisational purposes, we would kindly request that you inform us by 1 March 2018 at the latest by e-mail to secretary@b-l-s.lu if you are planning to attend.
New Council Members
The AGM of 4 March 2018 will be an opportunity for new candidates to the Council to be elected. We are looking to expand the Council with additional volunteers, whose ideas, time and energy the Society is in need of.
Please contact us at president@b-l-s.lu by 24 February 2018 at the latest should you be interested in joining the Council.
Yours sincerely,
