Rose Tour
Saturday 24th May 2025, 09:30 – 13:30
Luxembourg is recognised for many things especially in the political sphere, but a lesser know fact is it reputation as a rose producer.
Luxembourg’s favourable climate and suitable soil has made it an ideal location for growing roses. The principal rose-growing gardens were historically located in Limpertsberg and the Petrusse valley. During the 19th and 20th centuries Limpertsberg became a hub for commercial rose nurseries. These gardens produced award winning varieties, many of the roses developed there were exported across Europe.
We are delighted to offer a tour of three rose gardens situated outside the city culminating in a visit to the Ansembourg gardens. The tour is to be lead by Dr Claudine Als who has for many years held a passion for roses. Dr Als is President of Patrimonie Rose pour le Luxembourg. She was a key driver behind the beautiful book “Luxembourg Land of Roses”. We are delighted that she has accepted our invitation to share her extensive knowledge with us. The tour will start at the Glacis parking (leaving at 9.30 sharp) where we will join our private mini bus. We will proceed to our first two gardens where we will enjoy a coffee and croissant before proceeding to Ansembourg Castle . We will then visit the rose garden and also have time to enjoy the main gardens. We will share an aperitif of cremant before leaving returning to the Glacis at 13.30. For those interested we will book a table for lunch at the Porta Nova immediately on our return. Please indicate your attendance at lunch when reserving your place.
