Mladen Dabizljevic
Pianist, Composer and Conductor
Mladen Dabizljevic is a Swiss-based pianist, composer and conductor of Montenegrin origin, whose career combines classical piano, chamber music, composition and a particular passion for the world of ballet.
He studied piano in Italy, graduating with full marks and honours, and received an honourable mention for chamber music. He has been the winner of a number of international piano competitions, including the Castelvecchio Prize and the Roberto Melini Prize, the latter awarded in Italy following his performance of Bach’s Piano Concerto in D minor.
His international concert career has taken him to major European stages and festivals, both as a soloist and with orchestras. Among the distinguished venues with which he has been associated are the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Arena di Verona.
A particularly important part of Mladen’s artistic life has been his work with dancers. As a ballet pianist and répétiteur, as well as an assistant conductor, he has worked with leading dancers, choreographers and ballet masters, including Roberto Bolle, Coleen Neary, Julie Kent, Monique Loudières, Mauro Bigonzetti and Massimo Murru.
His understanding of the intimate relationship between music and movement has become the inspiration for his highly successful project, The Ballet Pianist, created in collaboration with enScène in Switzerland. The project explores the extraordinary musical language of ballet and has reached audiences internationally.
Mladen is also an accomplished composer, creating music for both the concert platform and the world of dance. His performances are characterised by their expressive quality, technical command and remarkable sensitivity to movement and atmosphere.
We are delighted that Mladen Dabizljevic will be joining the British-Luxembourg Society for our Gala Dinner and look forward to an evening of fine music and exceptional artistry.
