H.E. JOANNE OLIVIER – PATRON EX OFFICIO

His Majesty’s Ambassador to Luxembourg

Joanne Olivier was appointed His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on 23 April 2025, after presenting her credentials to HRH Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume.

Joanne has served in a wide range of roles in the FCDO since 2009. She was most recently the Deputy Head of Mediterranean Department from 2022 until 2025. Overseas, she has served in Pretoria and Paris. In London she has served in the Defence and Strategic Threats Directorate, as a Middle East Policy Planner and as Head of Ukraine Team. Prior to joining the FCDO, Joanne had a career as a lawyer, including as a practicing barrister in London.

SIR NICHOLAS FORWOOD, KC – PATRON

British – Educated at Cambridge University, a former judge of the General Court of the Court of Justice of the EU (1999-2015), after a career as a barrister in London and Brussels. He now lives in Luxembourg.

PATRICK SANTER – PATRON

Luxembourgish – Vice-President of the Council of State of Luxembourg and Chairman of its committee on economics and finance. Member of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg from October 1999 until March 2009. Member of the Luxembourg Bar since 1995.

HUBERT WURTH – PATRON

Luxembourgish – Graduated in law (Paris II) and in political sciences (Paris IEP). Ambassador of Luxembourg in the UK from 2007 to 2011, and previously in the USSR, the Netherlands, to the UN in NY, and in France between 1989 and 2007. His last posting was Vienna, until spring 2017. In parallel he was active as an abstract painter, and he continues his activity in this field. He has two daughters.
