British-Luxembourg Society Annual Summer Reception 2025

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Members, Sponsors, and the British Embassy
On Thursday, 26 June 2025, the British-Luxembourg Society (BLS) was delighted to
welcome over 200 guests to our Annual Summer Reception, graciously hosted at the British
Ambassador’s Residence in Luxembourg-Ville.
This much-anticipated event remains a highlight of the BLS calendar, providing a wonderful
opportunity for members, friends, and newcomers to connect and celebrate the vibrant
British-Luxembourg community. The picturesque gardens set the perfect scene for an
evening of lively conversation, accompanied by the uplifting sounds of Jalo Sounds and a
delicious selection of finger food and drinks.

BLS President Darren Robinson opened the evening by expressing sincere thanks to
everyone who made the event possible:
 Our dedicated members, whose enthusiasm and support are the lifeblood of the
Society
 Our generous sponsors, without whom such gatherings would not be possible
 The British Ambassador, Her Excellency Joanne Olivier, and the entire Embassy
team, for their warm hospitality and ongoing partnership

We were honoured to have Ambassador Olivier host her first BLS Summer Reception since
taking up her post in April. In her welcoming remarks, she praised the dynamism and
engagement of the British community in Luxembourg and reaffirmed her commitment to
deepening ties between the UK and Luxembourg. The Ambassador highlighted the positive
momentum in UK-EU relations and shared her vision for strengthened cooperation in
security, technology, climate, and culture.
Guests enjoyed exclusive exhibitions inside the Residence, including works by BLS Art
students and a special Jane Austen-themed display. Copies of #LuxUKLinks, authored by
former Ambassador John Marshall, were available for purchase in support of charity.
As always, the iconic red London bus added a touch of nostalgia, transporting guests
between Glacis and the Residence.

Our heartfelt thanks to all who attended and contributed to this memorable evening.
Your continued support ensures the ongoing success of the Society and our mission
to foster friendship and understanding between the UK and Luxembourg.
